On a recent agency Project, I had to deal with human body CT scans and their accurate representation on an artistic, yet scientifically precise form. Because of that reason I had to make the jump from Cinema 4D to Houdini and start experimenting with a more robust and versatile way of visualizing data and efficiently handling large data bodies.
The research went further and I discovered loads of precious resources that extend a bridge between medical imaging and artistic possibilities. The brain is just a collection of interesting takes using a public CT scan, starting with Entagma’s take on how to accurately translate pixels to points. Points are then are sampled to 3D Volumes and then the power of Redshift is used to render the Volume’s density as very thick, almost edible, smoke.
